What is the Airgarden made from?Updated 2 years ago

The Airgarden unit is made from all Australian UV stabilised, food-grade plastic.

Food-grade plastics is a term used for plastics deemed safe for contact with food and beverages. If a plastic is food-grade, it has a certain level of purity and doesn't include any dyes or recycled materials that are potentially hazardous if consumed by humans.

UV stabilised means that we have added a specific stabiliser to the resin which protects the Airgarden unit from the long-term degradation from UV light. It does this by screening out UV radiation and preventing damage. This sets the Airgarden apart from other hydroponic products available in Australia, as none of them are propose-built for these conditions and therefore cannot guarantee longevity.

With regards to the specific type of plastic we use a combination - the base reservoir is recycling number is HDPE (code 2), and the rest is PP (code 5). Both are classed as the safest form of food grade plastic.
